The Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion—of which the Episcopal Church is a constitutive part—recognize seven Sacraments.
Sacraments are those ceremonies combining words, actions and objects which the church believes genuinely convey to the faithful recipient the holiness, wonder, and mystery of God binding us in union with God and one another for the benefit of the world.
Of these seven, the two so-called "sacraments of the Gospel," are Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist. We believe that these two were instituted by Jesus himself and, therefore, have a place of prominence in our lives being considered necessary for all believers.
